Scaffolding SWL

Scaffolding SWL

Que: How to calculate SWL of Scaffolding?

Ans: Calculation formula for Scaffolding SWL is: –

Scaffold SWL = Dead load + (4 x L)

D = Dead weight

L = Live weight / Load

Also,

Dead weight = Scaffold Components weight + Scaffold Platform weight

Live weight = Person’s weight + Material weight + Tools weight

Now…..

For example,

Dead weight is 200 kg of your scaffolding components and platform. And live load is, 2 (in no’s) workers have to work so their weights are:

One worker’s weight is 60 Kgs.

Another worker’s weight is 65 Kgs.

Tools weight is 200 Kgs.

Materials weight is 2000 Kgs.

Putting the above values in formula, then:

Scaffolding SWL = 200 + [4 x (60 + 65 + 200 + 2000)]

                           = 200 + [4 x 2325]

                           = 200 + 9300

                           = 9500 Kgs

Therefore, Scaffolding SWL is 9500 Kgs.

Convert Kgs in Tons, then,

                        = 9500/1000

                        = 9.5 Tons
